Ingredients
- 2 1/2 oz (75 ml) Gin (or Vodka, if preferred)
- 1/2 oz (15 ml) Dry Vermouth
- Ice (for stirring or shaking)
- Lemon twist or Green olive (for garnish)
Instructions
- Chill your glass: Place a martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water to cool while you prepare the drink.
- Combine ingredients: Add the gin (or vodka) and dry vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice.
- Stir or shake: Stir for about 30 seconds until well chilled (or shake for a slightly frothy finish, though purists prefer stirring).
- Strain: Empty the ice water from the martini glass (if chilled) and strain the mixture into the glass.
- Garnish: Add a lemon twist by expressing its oils over the drink and dropping it in, or garnish with a green olive for a savory touch.
- Serve immediately and savor the sophistication!
Tips:
- Adjust the vermouth ratio to your liking: Less vermouth makes a “drier” Martini, while more enhances its herbal character.
- For an extra-dry Martini, simply coat the inside of the glass with vermouth, then pour it out before adding the gin.
- Experiment with garnishes like cocktail onions (for a Gibson variation).
